Bob and Sharon would take us kids on littlet local trips to see curious things. One of the trips involved Pardise Lake near Mattoon. Bob, being Bob, chastised Sharon for cussing in front of the children when she announced that we were getting to the "dam."

During another trip Uncle Bob and Aunt Sharon

took us out to see the Canadian Geese that weren't so common back in the sixties and lifted one of them by the neck to our amusement - actually I think he was more amused by our reaction than we were of him handling one.
