Obituary for Glenn R. Shriver

Glenn R. "Bob" Shriver, 74, of Mooresville, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 7, 2015 at Plainfield Healthcare. He was born to George and Mary (Easter) Shriver on December 3, 1940 in Mattoon, IL. He graduated from Mattoon High School in 1959. He married Sharon (Littleton) Shriver on August 26, 1967.

Bob was an Insurance Salesman and Indiana Vice President of Modern Income Life Insurance Company for 15 years, retiring in 1994. He also was owner-operator of Shriver Lawn Mowing. He served in the Illinois National Guard and Army Reserve. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and golf. He lived in Mooresville since 1977 and his birthplace of Mattoon, IL for 37 years.

Bob worked tirelessly within the Monrovia community, coaching youth baseball and basketball teams. He served several years as President of Monrovia Organized Baseball. He served alongside Steve Johnson and Bill Kelley coaching Babe Ruth Baseball for several years. They were instrumental in gathering a team of sports boosters; re-configuring the Monrovia High School baseball field. They were also involved with the building of a shelter house, press box and concession stand.

As former President of Monroe Township Fire Board, he worked diligently to find and purchase land for the construction of Monrovia Fire Station 51.

Bob is survived by his wife of 47 years, Sharon Shriver of Mooresville; a son, Greg Shriver of Monrovia; a granddaughter, Emily Rae Shriver; two brothers, George and Rex Shriver; and a sister, Mary Lee Anderson. Bob is preceded in death by his parents, George and Mary Shriver; two brothers, Terry Dwayne and Holly Shriver; two sisters, Anna Mae and Linda Shriver.

Family and friends may gather from 4-8 p.m., Wednesday, June 10 and 10-11 a.m., Thursday, June 11 at Jones Family Mortuary, Mooresville. Pastor Joe Brown will officiate the 11 a.m. celebration of life service on Thursday, June 11 at Jones Family Mortuary, Mooresville. Bob will be laid to rest in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Hall.
