Obituary for William (Bill) L. Hammons

William "Bill" L. Hammons, 84, of Mooresville, IN, died on August 16, 2011. Bill was born to Alvia & Nellie (Reynolds) Hammons on November 19, 1926 in Martinsville, IN. Bill married Sarah (Christian) Hammons on November 5, 1999.

Bill graduated from Martinsville High School. Bill was a World War II Army Veteran. Bill was an Inspector for General Motors in Indianapolis, IN for 36 years. He was a member of the Lakeview Church. He has lived in Mooresville, IN for the past 10 years, Indianapolis, IN for most of his life and grew up in Martinsville, IN.

Bill is survived by his wife, Sarah (Christian) Hammons of Mooresville, IN; 3 step children, Shelby Jean (Rod) Williamson of Plainfield, IN, Bud (Jo) Pugh of Mooresville, IN and Sam (Julie) Pugh Mooresville, IN; 3 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren; 1 brother, Jack Hammons of CA.

Bill is preceded in death by his parents, Alvia & Nellie (Reynolds) Hammons; daughter, Terry Detrich.

Calling will be from 4-8pm, Thursday, August 18, 2011 and 10-11am, Friday, August 19, 2011 at Jones Family Mortuary. Neal Dreadin will officiate the 11am funeral service on Friday, August 19, 2011 at Jones Family Mortuary. Bill will be laid to rest at White Lick Cemetery.
