Obituary for Timothy L. Bernfield

A beloved husband, father, brother, grandfather, and uncle went peacefully to be with the Lord on Thursday, December 12 in the loving care of family.

He was born in Monticello, IN on September 24, 1950 to William Dean Bernfield and Aryles Kathleen Bernfield. Tim grew up in Monticello and graduated from Twin Lakes High School. At age 17, he left for Vincennes University where he graduated as an Airplane Mechanic. While at Vincennes, he met the love of his life and best friend Anna. He then worked for 40 years at Rolls Royce (GM) as a machine repairman and raised a beautiful family of four children and two grandchildren. A true handyman, Tim was always lined up by family and friends to repair anything needing fixed.

Tim lived his life for his family. He coached sports for every one of his kids and took the family to Anna Maria Island every year for great seafood (preferably fried), some sun, and many happy hours. At an early age, Tim and Anna sharpened their card playing skills against Anna's parents, which boded well for many future games with their best friends Stan and Linda Ringer. Although Anna would never admit, he knew (and everyone else) he was better at Hearts. A lifelong Cubs fan, listening to many games on the radio, it didn't take long before they were traveling to games and Anna became a fanatic with her own Cubs room in their home. Tim and Anna also loved to spend time landscaping and gardening on nice days.

He is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Anna Lynn Bernfield, daughter, Emily Bernfield (Brian), sons, Matthew Bernfield, Kevin Bernfield (Beth), Kyle Bernfield (Jessica), grandchildren, Brayden Bernfield, Wesley Bernfield, sister, Sue Schlimme (Rick), brother, John Bernfiled, sister-in-law, Linda Henry (Vern), brother-in-law, Andrew Rumple. Tim was preceded in death by his mother, father, William Bernfield and Aryles Bernfield Miller.

Family and friends may attend calling hours from 3-8 p.m., Monday, December 16, 2013 and 10-11 a.m., Tuesday, December 17, 2013 at Jones Crossing Banquet Center. Pastor Charles Paxton will officiate the 11 a.m. celebration of life service on Tuesday, December 17, 2013 at Jones Crossing Banquet Center. Tim will be laid to rest at White Lick Cemetery, Mooresville.

Memorial Contributions can be made to American Cancer Society, 5635 W. 96th Street, Suite 100, Indianapolis, IN 46278.
