Obituary for Thomas (Tom) H. Edwards
Thomas "Tom" H. Edwards, 75, of West Newton, IN, died on March 1, 2012. Thomas was born to Herbert H. & Sarah V. (Daggett) Edwards on June 6, 1936 in Bloomington, IN. Thomas "Tom" H. Edwards married Louise (Ewell) Edwards on August 10, 1958.
Tom graduated from Decatur Central High School. Tom attended Purdue University for 3 years, where he studied agriculture and walked on to the basketball team. Tom was Owner-Operator of Edwards Drive-In Restaurant in Beech Grove, IN for 50+ years. Tom was also a Referee for Indiana High School Basketball. Tom was a member of West Newton Masonic Lodge #707, Scottish Rite Indianapolis Valley and Murat Shrine. Thomas was also a Volunteer Firefighter for Decatur Township and served on the Advisory Board of the Decatur Township Trustee. Thomas was also on the Cemetery Board of West Newton Cemetery. Thomas was also part of the founding organizations of West Newton Little League Basketball.
Thomas "Tom" H. Edwards is survived by his wife of 53 years, Louise (Ewell) Edwards of Camby, IN; 4 children, Robert T. Edwards of Fishers, IN, Jeffrey L. Edwards of Indianapolis, IN, Terri L. Edwards of Indianapolis, IN and Sherry E. Ramsey of Indianapolis, IN; 7 grandchildren; brother, William Edwards of Bloomington, IN and a sister, Mary Ann Hibler of West Newton, IN. Thomas "Tom" H. Edwards is preceded in death by his parents, Herbert H. & Sarah V. (Daggett) Edwards.
Calling for Thomas "Tom" H. Edwards will be from 2-6pm, Sunday, March 4, 2012 and 1-2pm, Monday, March 5, 2012 at Jones Crossing Banquet Center in Mooresville, IN. Jeff Alexander will officiate the 2pm funeral service on Monday, March 5, 2012 at Jones Crossing Banquet Center in Mooresville, IN. Thomas "Tom" H. Edwards will be laid to rest in West Newton Cemetery.
Memorial Contributions can be made to the Alzheimers Association, 50 E. 91st St., STE 100, Indianapolis, IN 46209-4830.
