Obituary for Myrtle M. Collier

Myrtle M. Collier, 92, Plainfield, passed away peacefully on Jan. 20, 2014. Myrtle was born to James Rike & Edna (Fancher) Rike Ferree on Oct. 19, 1921 in Indianapolis. Myrtle married Clarence R. Collier on May 29, 1948.

Myrtle was a Beautician and owner of Collier's Beauty Salon for 30 years. She enjoyed sewing and needlecraft. She loved her pets. She has lived in Mooresville for most of her life and 30 years in Indianapolis.

Myrtle is survived by four children, Marie Ailes of Plainfield, Linda Walker of Plainfield, Martha (Jack) Shouse of Reelsville and Lori (Dan) Kennedy of Metamora; two stepchildren, Kay Harris of Reno, NV and Jeanine Miley of Quincy; 7 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and 2 great, great grandchildren. Myrtle is preceded in death by her parents, James and Edna (Fancher) Rike Ferree; her spouse, Clarence R. Collier; one brother; two sisters and a grandson.

Friends and family may attend calling hours from noon - 1 p.m., Friday, January 24, 2014 at Jones Family Mortuary, Mooresville. Rev. Dr. Carolyn Scanlan-Holmes will officiate the 1 p.m. celebration of life service on Friday, January 24, 2014 at Jones Family Mortuary. Myrtle will be laid to rest at Fairfield Cemetery, Camby.
