Martha J. (Smith) Daugherty, 85, of Indianapolis, IN passed away peacefully on Monday, July 6, 2015 at Miller Merry Manor. She was born May 6, 1930 in Indianapolis to the late Joseph and Ruth (Geiseking) Smith. Martha married the late Carl E. Daugherty Jr. on July 22, 1950.

Martha lived in Mooresville for 30 years and Indianapolis for 50 years. She was a 1948 graduate of George Washington High School. She was the manager for Mr. Video in Mooresville for 25 years. She was a member of the VFW Post #1111 Ladies Auxiliary, Mooresville American Legion Post #103, enjoyed bowling in her younger years and also enjoyed playing bingo and going to casinos.

Martha is survived by her 3 children: Rebecca Hayes of Indianapolis, Carl (Barbara) Daugherty III of Avon and James (Cindy) Daugherty of Noblesville; 7 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren; 4 brothers: Jerry, John, Tom and Joe Smith and sister, Judy Lowery. She is also preceded in death by her parents, 3 brothers and 3 sisters.

Family and friends may gather from 3:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., Wednesday, July 15, 2015 at Jones Family Mortuary, Mooresville. Pastor Billy Gott will officiate the 6:30 p.m. celebration of life service on Wednesday, July 15, 2015 at Jones Family Mortuary. Martha will be laid to rest in White Lick Cemetery, Mooresville.
