Obituary for Lawrence J. (Larry) Kroenert

Lawrence J. "Larry" Kroenert, 80 years of age went to be with the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Friday, April 23, 2010. He was born October 16, 1929 in Chicago, IL to the late Joseph Kroenert and the late Catherine (Carney) Piper.

Larry lived in Indianapolis, IN for 6 years; in the Chicago, IL area for 60 years and in Gaithersburg, MD for 13 years. He was a graduate of Harper High School and received his Bachelor's Degree from Roosevelt University in Chicago, IL. He was a Navy Veteran and a member of the St. Ann's Catholic Church. He was also a 4th Degree Past Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus, Past Post Commander of American Legion in Illinois. Before retiring in 1991, he was Vice General Chairman for the United Transportation Union in Homewood, IL and a union Representative for the CIWRR and ICGRR for more than 50 years.

Larry is survived by his Wife, Carolyn Gornick of Indianapolis, IN; 2 Children: Gary (Rita) Kroenert of Villa Park, IL and Kenneth Kroenert of Centrailia, IL; 2 Stepchildren: Dori (Tony) Volturo of Indianapolis, IN, and Kimberley (Jim) Hoogeveen of Dyer, IN; 9 Grandchildren: Robbie, Christina and Jacqueline Kroenert, Joshua, Adriel and Sophia Hoogeven, Robert, Nichole and Sheila Kuzub; 2 Great Grandchildren; 1 Brother, George Piper of Woodridge, IL; Brother-in-law, Ron Konetsky of Woodridge, IL; and several Nieces and a Nephew. He is also preceded in death by Father, Joseph Kroenert; Mother and Stepfather, Catherine and Elmer Piper; Son, Robert Kroenert; and Sister, Joan Konetsky.

There will be calling hours for Lawrence J. "Larry" Kroenert from 3-4pm, Monday, May 3, 2010 at the St. Ann's Catholic Church in Indianapolis, IN with the Catholic Mass to begin at 4pm. Father Glenn L. O'Connor will officiate. In lieu of flowers, Memorial Contributions may be made to St. Ann's Catholic Church: 6350 S. Mooresville Rd., Indianapolis, IN 46221.
