Obituary for Lawrence E. /Pete/ Ellis

Lawrence E. "Pete" Ellis, 71 years of age of Martinsville, IN passed away Thursday, January 1, 2009. He was born September 22, 1937 in Morgan County, IN to the late Claude Harrison and surviving, Inez Adrian (Northern) Ellis of Martinsville, IN.

Pete has lived in Martinsville, IN for most of his life. He was a 1955 Hall High School Graduate and was also a Veteran for the Marine Corp Cpl. He was a lifetime member of the Indiana Truck Pulling Association and was never without a smile on truck pulling weekends. He was a member of the Martinsville American Legion Post #230. He enjoyed his family and his life, and will surely be missed by all who knew his unforgettable personality. Before retiring in 2005, he was a Truck Driver for Wickes Lumber in Indianapolis, IN for 10 years. Previously, he was a Mechanic at Motor Fleet in Indianapolis, IN for 20 years.

Pete is survived by his 6 Children: Paula Helton of Indianapolis, IN, Pamela Blakley of Monrovia, IN, Stacey Smith of Monrovia, IN, Scott Ellis of Monrovia, IN, Mellissa Deleon of Mcallen, TX, and Michelle Nenedjian of Martinsville, IN; 16 Grandchildren; 6 Great Grandchildren; Mother, Inez Ellis of Martinsville, IN; 2 Brothers, Dean and Lester Ellis of Martinsville, IN; 3 Sisters: Phyllis Price of Crawfordsville, IN, Wanda Thompson of Martinsville, IN, and Virginia Rivenberg of TX. Pete is also preceded in death by his Son, Lawrence Ellis II; Father, Claude Ellis; and Brother, Farrell Ellis.

Calling hours for Pete will be from 3-6pm, Sunday, January 4, 2009 at Jones Family Mortuary. There will be a Graveside Service at 10am, Monday, January 5, 209 at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Hall, IN where Pete will be laid to rest. Memorial Contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
