Obituary for Julia P. Gastino (Grimes)

Julia P. (Grimes) Gastino, 77, of Indianapolis, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 6, 2015. She was born to Ernest W. "Bud" and Dorothy M. (Freels) Grimes on July 1, 1937 in Indianapolis. She was a Ben Davis High School graduate. She married Donald L. Gastino on August 8, 1962.

Julia most recently was Director of Catering for Holiday Inn North in Indianapolis, but worked in the hospitality industry over 30 years. She was a member of Red Hats Society. She lived in Indianapolis for most of her life.

Julia is survived by her husband of 52 years, Donald L. Gastino of Indianapolis; five children, Donna Markowitz of NC, Kimberly Miller of Indianapolis, Donald A. Gastino of Indianapolis, Paula McCullough of Mooresville, Patti Overton of Mooresville; nine grandchildren, Sarah, Brandy, Michael, Brian, Jennifer, Elizabeth, Tom, Julia, Matthew; eight great-grandchildren, Lyra, Drew, Mariah, Ryder, Cody, Jesse, Emma, Ella; a brother, Ernest Grimes of Mooresville; and a sister, Nancy Christie of Indianapolis. Julia is preceded in death by her parents: Ernest W. "Bud" and Dorothy M. (Freels) Grimes; and a daughter, Judy Hall.

Family and friends may gather from 5-8 p.m., Tuesday, June 9, 2015 and 10-11 a.m., Wednesday, June 10, 2015 at Jones Family Mortuary, Mooresville. Pastor Ernie Grimes will officiate the 11 a.m. celebration of life service on Wednesday, June 10, 2015 at Jones Family Mortuary.
