Obituary for Jonah C. Blankenship

Jonah C. Blankenship, 86 years of age passed away Saturday, November 8, 2008. He was born August 13, 1922 in Whitleyville, TN to the late Henry M. and Aulta F. (CLark) Blankenship. He married Evelyn R. (Perry) Blankenship of Mooresville, IN on September 18, 1943.

Jonah has lived in Indianapolis, IN for most of his life. He was an Army World War II Veteran and a member of the West Newton Church of Christ. He was also a Lifetime member of the Disabled American Veterans. Jonah retired in 1987, after 46 years of working at the Indianapolis Paper Container Corporation.

He is survived by his Wife, Evelyn R. (Perry) Blankenship of Mooresville, IN; 2 Children, Ronald E. (Linda) Blankenship of FL and Rosemary Price of Indianapolis, IN; 4 Grandchildren: Lori, Kimberly, Shelley, and Heather; 4 Great Grandchildren and 1 due in January; 2 Brothers, Albert and Carl Blankenship; 4 Sisters: Velma Drake, Tennie Blankenship, Eva Wagner and Jo Helen Wood. He is also preceded in death by 1 Son, Robert E. Blankenship and 1 Brother, Sidney Blankenship.

Calling hours for Jonah will be from 3-8pm, Monday, November 10, 2008 and from 9-10am, Tuesday, November 11, 2008 at Jones Family Mortuary. The funeral will be at 10am, Tuesday, November 11, 2008 at Jones Family Mortuary with Richard Freeman and Jimmy Thompson to officiate. Jonah will be laid to rest at Floral Park Cemetery in Indianapolis, IN. Memorial Contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
