Obituary for John McEvoy
John McEvoy, 91 years of age passed away Sunday, February 14, 2010. He was born October 3, 1918 in Missouri Valley, Iowa to the late Thomas and Libbie (Gerew) McEvoy. John married Lenora (Allen) McEvoy on February 2, 1989.
John was a Mooresville/Camby resident for most of his life and also in Missouri Valley, Iowa for 18 years. He was a Council Bluffs High School Graduate in Iowa. John was a Machinist for Chevrolet in Indianapolis, IN for 47 years before retiring in 1983. He was a Member of the Mooresville VFW Post 1111 and a Member and Deacon of the Eternal Life Baptist Church in Mooresville, IN. John was also a Navy WWII Veteran where he was a Radio Tech and Machine Gunner and Discharged in 1945.
John is survived by his Wife, Lenora McEvoy of Mooresville, IN; 2 Daughters, Linda McEvoy of Texas and Wanda (Ron) Redelman of Indianapolis, IN; 1 Son, Frank (Mary) Lowry of Martinsville, IN; 15 Grandchildren; Several Great and Great Great Grandchildren; 2 Brothers, Thomas (Corinne) McEvoy Jr. of Indianapolis, IN and Julius McEvoy of Iowa; and 2 Sisters, Margaret Mulvihill of Iowa and Mildred Ziebig of HI. He is also preceded in death by 1 Son, Gary (Barb) Lowry; 1 Brother; and 3 Sisters.
Calling hours for John will be from 10-11am, Wednesday, February 17, 2010 with the funeral to begin at 11am all at the Eternal Life Baptist Church in Mooresville, IN. Don Endsley will officiate the service and John McEvoy will be laid to rest at White Lick Cemetery in Mooresville, IN. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association (50 E. 91st St., Suite 100, Indianapolis, IN 46209) and to the Eternal Life Baptist Building Fund (8554 E. Hendricks County Rd, Mooresville, IN 46158.
