Obituary for John (Jack) Gormley

John (Jack) Gormley Jr., 66 was called home on Friday, May 15, 2009, after fighting a courageous battle with cancer for the last 2 years. He was born on April 15, 1943 in Butler, NJ to John and Marjorie (Norman) Gormley. Jack graduated in 1961 from Butler High School in Butler, NJ. He went on to attend Patterson Commercial College with a degree in Accounting and Business Administration. He worked for American Cyanimid in Wayne, NJ where he met his wife Dianne. In 1996, he went to work for Walter P. Dalifield on Wall Street in New York City. He moved his family to Bushnell, IL in 1972 where he worked for Mid West Control Products and C.S. Norcross. Jack loved Bushnell and often remarked how he was glad he was able to raise his children in that community. Jack became an avid golfer while in Bushnell and his children loved driving dad around the gold course in his gold cart. In 1990, Jack and his Wife moved to Columbus, IN where he worked for Western Southern Life Insurance. In 1991, Jack was promoted to manager and moved to Bloomington, IN. While in Bloomington, Jack and Dianne became avid "Hoosier Fans". They even sat next to Coach Knight on a flight to Bermuda and got his autograph. Jack was CFO of J.W. Jones Company in Paragon, IN where he worked until the time of his passing. The Gormley family would like to say Thank You to John Jones and his employees for their support and kindness during these last 2 years of Jack's life. Jack is survived by his wife of 43 years, Dianne (Harris) Gormley, Son, Douglas Jon Gormley of Anaheim, CA, Daughters Paige (Scott) Twiddy of Fort Mill SC, Michelle Guerra of Zionsville, IN, grandchildren Ella Gormley, Kendall and Spencer Twiddy, Alec, Jordyn, Halle and Katee Guerra, and his beloved dogs Camby and Cubbie. Also surviving are brothers, Bob Gormley of Butler, NJ, Bill Cooper of Jefferson NJ, sisters, Mary Jean Cole of Butler, NJ, twin sister, Joan Brancaccio of Highland, NJ and sister-in-law Carol Gormley and many nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death are his parents John J.Gormley, Marjorie (Gormley) Cooper and brother Gerald (Jerry) Gormley. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or Shaw Creek Golf Course in Bushnell, Illinois 61422. Jones Famiy Mortuary was in charge of the arrangements. Calling hours will be from 1:30-3pm, Monday, May 18, 2009 at Jones Family Mortuary. The funeral will be at 3pm, Monday, May 18, 2009 with Mike Mercer officiating.
