Obituary for James (Wendell) Watkins

James "Wendell" Watkins, 89, of Mooresville, IN, died on March 12, 2012. James "Wendell" Watkins was born to Elmer & Ruth (Thacker) Watkins on November 3, 1922 in Bloomfield, IN. James "Wendell" Watkins was a World War II Army Veteran. James "Wendell" Watkins married Berniece (Thomson) Watkins on December 28, 1946.

Wendell was a Truck Driver for TMX Trucking in Indianapolis, IN for 26 years, retiring in 1979. Previously, Wendell was a Courier for Bloomfield State Bank. Wendell was a 50 year member of Mooresville Masonic Lodge #78, Mooresville VFW #1111, Mooresville Order of Eastern Star #260 & Mooresville American Legion #103. Wendell has lived in the Mooresville/Camby area for the past 49 years and his birthplace of Bloomfield, IN for 40 years.

Wendell is survived by his wife of 65 years, Berniece (Thomson) Watkins of Mooresville, IN; 2 daughters, Marilyn (Melvin) McClellan of Camby, IN & Linda (Richard) Summers of Plainfield, IN; 4 grandchildren, Laura McClellan, Keith Summers, Shelby McClellan & Kelly Summers; 7 great grandchildren, Wesley, Aaron, Evan, Sophie, Paige, Sam & Noah; a brother, Jack Watkins of Brownsburg, IN and a sister, Mabel Maners of Elletsville, IN. Wendell is preceded in death by his parents, Elmer & Ruth (Thacker) Watkins; a grandson, Kenneth Summers; 1 brother and 4 sisters.

Calling for Wendell will be from 3-8pm, Wednesday, March 14, 2012 & 9-10am, Thursday, March 15, 2012 at Jones Family Mortuary in Mooresville, IN. Charles Paxton will officiate the 10am funeral service on Thursday, March 15, 2012 at Jones Family Mortuary. Wendell will be laid to rest in West Newton Cemetey.
