Obituary for James L. Pottorff Sr.

James L. Pottorff Sr., 86, of Indianapolis, passed away peacefully on March 15, 2014. James was born to James R. Pottorff and Luie M. (Stewart) Payton on March 14, 1928 in Gosport. James was a 1948 Gosport High School Graduate and an Army Veteran during the Korean War. James married Joanna M. (Long) Pottorff on December 31, 1954.

James was a Coordinator and Weightmaster for Indianapolis Livestock Market in Indianapolis for 47 years, retiring in 1995. He was a member of Martinsville Masonic Lodge #74 and Mooresville American Legion Post 103. He has really enjoyed retirement life.

James is survived by his wife of 59 years, Joanna M. Pottorff of Indianapolis; three children, James (Judy) Pottorff Jr. of Mooresville, Michael (Linda) Pottorff of Mooresville and Barbara (Chris) Sharp of Whiteland; four grandchildren, James "JB", Heather, Stewart and Quentin. James is preceded in death by his parents, James R. Pottorff and Luie M. Payton and a grandson, Dakota Shane Pottorff.

Family and friends may attend calling hours from 4-8 p.m., Tuesday, March 18, 2014 and 9-10 a.m., Wednesday, March 19, 2014 at Jones Family Mortuary, Mooresville. There will also be a 7:30 p.m. Masonic Service on Tuesday evening. Pastor David Clayton will officiate the 10 a.m. celebration of life service on Wednesday, March 19, 2014 at Jones Family Mortuary. James will be laid to rest in Gosport Cemetery.
