Obituary for Homer Lee Sachs

Homer Lee Sachs, 72,of Waverly, IN, died on February 14, 2012. Homer Lee was born to Roy Porter & Mary Esther (Hayes) Sachs in Indianapolis, IN on April 13, 1939. He graduated from Martinsville High School in 1957 and earned a 2 year degree in Engineering from Purdue. Homer Lee married Doris N. (Rance) Sachs on August 31, 1962.


Homer Lee worked as an Architect-Aerospace Engineer for IAT-Pratt Whitney in Indianapolis, IN for 15 years, retiring in 2008. Homer Lee previously worked for Indiana Gear Works in Indianapolis, IN for 18 years. He was a member of Pleasant Grove Christian Church. Homer Lee was a Past Master of Waverly Masonic Lodge #615 & also a member of Indianapolis Valley Scottish Rite. Homer Lee has lived in Waverly, IN most of his life and 7 years in his birthplace of Indianapolis, IN.

Homer Lee is survived by his wife, Doris N. (Rance) Sachs of Waverly, IN; 4 children, Deborah M. Sachs-Powell of New Castle, IN, Susie Davenport of Indianapolis, IN, Leslee A. (Andrew) Schnieders of Waverly, IN & Bradley D. Sachs of Indianapolis, IN; 7 grandsons, Nic, Justin, Brian, Victor, Vincent, Aaron & Aden; 1 brother, Larry (Bobbi) Sachs of Martinsville, IN. Homer Lee is preceded in death by his parents, Roy Porter & Mary Esther (Hayes) Sachs and a sister, Rebecca Pardue.

Calling for Homer Lee Sachs will be from 4-8pm, Thursday, February 16, 2012 and 10-11am, Friday, February 17, 2012 at Jones Family Mortuary in Mooresville, IN. There will also be a 7:30pm Masonic Service on Thursday, February 16, 2012. Bill Van Horn will officiate the 11am funeral service on Friday, February 17, 2012 at Jones Family Mortuary. Homer Lee Sachs will be laid to rest in Odd Fellow Cemetery, Waverly, IN.

Memorial Contributions may be made to the IU Simon Cancer Center.
