Obituary for Herbert P. Kibbey Jr.

Herbert P. KibbeyJr., 80, of Indianapolis, passed away peacefully with family by his side on December 14, 2015. He was born to Herbert P. Sr. and Sally Alice (Smith) Kibbey on October 10, 1935 in Grayson, KY. He graduated from Connersville High School in 1953. He married Donna (McGowen) Kibbey on October 10, 1953.

Herbert was a Tool and Die Maker for 50 years, 20 of which was was with Diamond Chain in Indianapolis, retiring in 2002. He was a member of the United Steelworker Union Local 1999, where he was a former Union Steward. When he was young, he and his siblings laid out the Mary Gray Bird Sanctuary in Connersville. He loved wildlife, fishing, camping, playing guitar and singing, especially karaoke. He lived in Monrovia for several years and grew up in Connersville.

Herbert is survived by four children, Audrey Hancock of Indianapolis, Lee Roy (Yo) Kibbey of Indianapolis, Keith Kibbey of Monrovia, Scott (Pam) Kibbey of Indianapolis; 12 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Elaine Toler of Falmouth, Kathy Lunsford of Connersville and Bernadine Ewing of Connersville. Herbert is preceded in death by his parents; wife; a daughter, Donna Kassaundra Kibbey; a great-grandson, Jacob P. Kibbey; a brother, Vernon Kibbey and a sister, Rosalie Lykins.

There will be a celebration of life servcie for Herbert at a later date.
