Obituary for Hansford (Hans) Benge

Hansford "Hans" Benge, 86, of Mooresville, IN, passed away peacefully on September 24, 2013. Hansford was born to Fred and Sarah (Proffitt) Benge on March 14, 1927 in Manchester, KY. Hansford married Nancy Irene (Hunt) in September of 1971. Hansford was a World War II, Navy Veteran.

Hansford was a Machine Repairman for General Motors Truck & Bus Plant for 35 years and also was Owner/Operator of Benge & Son Washer and Dryer Sales & Repair for 60 years. Hans lived in Mooresville, IN for 60 years, Valley Mills for 22 years and 3 years in his birthplace of Manchester, KY. He was a member of Mt. Gilead Church, West Newton Masonic Lodge 707, Scottish Rite Indianapolis Valley & Past President of Murat Shrine in Martinsville, IN.

Hans is survived by his daughter, Vickie Haines of Mooresville, IN; 11 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren and three brothers, William, Fred & Dillard Benge. Hans is preceded in death by his parents, Fred & Sarah (Proffitt) Benge; his wife, Nancy Irene (Hunt) Benge, previous wife, Faye I. Stewart Benge; two sons, Gary Alan Benge & John A. Benge and 20 siblings.

Family and Friends may attend calling hours from 10-12 noon, Friday, September 27, 2013 at Jones Family Mortuary in Mooresville, IN. Dan Bradley will officiate the 12 noon celebration of life service on Friday, September 27, 2013 at Jones Family Mortuary. Hansford will be laid to rest in White Lick Cemetery.
