Obituary for Gene Craig Littell

Gene Craig Littell, 85, of Camby, passed away peacefully on Oct. 10, 2014. Gene was born to Caleb Milton and Hazel E. (Craig) Littell on July 28, 1929 in Indianapolis. Gene was a 1948 Arsenal Technical High School Graduate and attended two years at Purdue Extension. Gene was a Korean War, Army Veteran in the 16th Infantry in the Big Red 1 and stationed in Germany all four years. Gene married Lennes Evelyn (Leavitt) Littell on Oct. 7, 1955.

Gene worked for Morris Machine Company in Indianapolis for 16 years, retiring in 2003. Previously, he was a Tool Maker and Tool Room Foreman for International Harvester for 17 years, retiring in 1987. Gene was a member of Evergreen Oriental Masonic Lodge #500, Corinthian Order of Eastern Star #456 where he was past Patron for 4 terms, Assistant Scout Master for Boy Scout Troop #147 at Ben Davis Christian Church and also adviser to Sea Explorer Scouts. He enjoyed building plastic model air planes and square dancing. He has lived in Camby since 1978 and his birthplace of Indianapolis for most of his young life.

Gene is survived by his wife of 59 years, Lennes Evelyn (Leavitt) Littell of Camby; two sons, Gary (Patricia) Littell of Canada and Craig Milton (Angela) Littell of Indianapolis; three nieces and a cousin. Gene was preceded in death by his parents, Caleb Milton and Hazel E. (Craig) Littell and a brother, Gilbert Arthur Littell.

Friends and family may gather from 4-8 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 13, 2014 and 9-10 a.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 14, 2014 at Jones Family Mortuary, Mooresville. There will be a 7 p.m. Order of Eastern Star Service followed by a Masonic Service on Monday evening. Pastor Charles Paxton will officiate the 10 a.m. celebration of life service on Tuesday, Oct. 14, 2014 at Jones Family Mortuary. Gene will be laid to rest in Washington Park East.
