Obituary for Gary Dale Cooper

Gary Cooper, 71, of Martinsville died April 23, 2005. He was previously of Overland Park, Kansas for most of his life. He was born June 10, 1933 to the late John Cooper and Beatrice (Tharp) Cooper. He married the late Therese (Batton) Cooper on January 12, 1957. He was a 1950 graduate of Moberly High School in Moberly, MO. He was a member of the Church of the Holy Cross in Overland Park, KS. He was a 3rd degree member of the Knights of Columbus - Holy Cross Council #11534. Served twice as Grand Knight of the 4th degree Bishop Ward Assembly. He was also a member of the Sunshine Club. He was a retail clerk for Payless Grocery Store in Prairie Village, KS for 30 years before retiring in 1995.

He is survived by 1 Daughter: Elizabeth Cooper of Martinsville, IN; 1 Son: John (Nicole) Cooper of Liberty, MO; 1 Granddaughter: Kaeleigh Therese; 2 Sisters: Carmen Hoge of Overland Park, KS and Patricia Turner of Greensboro, NC; Nephew: Robert Dalton; Adopted Daughter and Grandchildren: Drenda Smith, Shelby, Nichole, Brian Barr and Ronnie Jones.

Visitation will be 4-8pm Friday, April 29, 2005 at McGilley and Hoge Chapel in Overland Park, KS. Funeral will be at 10am Saturday, April 30, 2005 at Church of the Holy Cross in Overland Park, Kansas. Memorial Contributions can be made to the American Heart Association.
