Obituary for Evelyn R. McCory

Evelyn R. McCory, 98, Indianapolis, died on August 4, 2010. She was born on October 26, 1911 in Atlanta, IN to Riley B. Thompson and Myrtle G. (Phillips) Thompson, both deceased. She married John R. McCory on December 31, 1931 and he precedes her in death.

She was a homemaker and member of Eagle Valley Church of Christ. She lived in her birthplace of Atlanta, IN for 31 years and has lived in Indianapolis, IN since 1942.

She is survived by 2 sons, Tom (El)McCory of Ft. Wayne, IN, Dick (Mary Ann) McCory of Nineveh, IN; 2 daughters, Mary (Larry) Chastain of Indianapolis, IN, Sally Leeper of Indianapolis, IN; 7 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren; 2 sisters: Betty Meyer of Atlanta, IN, Marjorie Smith of Tipton, IN.

Besides her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by her grandson, Mike Leeper, daughter-in-law, Judy McCory, son-in-law, Jim Leeper, 2 brothers and 2 sisters.

Calling hours will be from 10-12noon on Friday, August 6, 2010 before the 12noon funeral service at Jones Family Mortuary. John Skomp will officiate the funeral service. Burial will be in Union Cemetery in Atlanta, IN.

Memorial Contributions can be made to the Decatur Township Dollars for Scholars.
