Obituary for Douglas Ray McClure

Douglas Ray McClure (USMC ret), 62, of Camby, IN passed away into eternal life with Christ on October 25, 2012. He was born on November 7, 1949 in Spencer, IN to Donald L. (Deceased) and Violet (Carter) McClure.

He attended Mooresville High School and joined the Marines in 1969. Becoming a double amputee as a result of wounds suffered in Vietnam, he was a receipient of the Purple Heart, Bronze Star & Vietnam Service Medal.

He loved the Lord and was a member of Way of the Cross Baptist Church. He is now walking on his new legs on heavenly streets of gold. (Rev 21:21) He was an auto racing fan, loved music & painting.

Douglas is survived by his mother, Violet (Carter) McClure of Camby, IN; a sister, Carole Ooley of Plainfield, IN; 2 brothers, Donald R. (Donna) McClure of Monrovia, IN & Curtis (Jessie) McClure of Camby, IN; 4 nephews & 2 nieces. Douglas is preceded in death by his father, Donald L. McClure & a brother, Jerry McClure.

Visitation will be from 3-7 pm, Sunday, October 28, 2012 & 10-11 am, Monday, October 29, 2012 at Jones Family Mortuary in Mooresville, IN. Billy Gott will officiate the 11 am funeral service on Monday, October 29, 2012 at Jones Family Mortuary. Douglas will be laid to rest in West Newton Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Wheeler Mission, Disabled American Veterans or Wounded Warriors.
