Obituary for Donald D. Dorsett

Donald D. Dorsett, 76, of Monrovia, passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 14, 2015. He was born to Delbert D. and Emily J. (Shields) Dorsett on September 28, 1938 in Hall. He graduated from Martinsville High School in 1956. He served honorably in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War and was a Purple Heart recipient. He married Nancy A. (Norman) Dorsett on January 1, 1959.

Donald was a Truck Driver for Yellow Freight in Indianapolis for 28 years, retiring in 1997. He was also owner of Dorsett Bros. Inc. Grain Elevators in Hall for several years. He was a lifetime member of Mooresville American Legion Post 103. He enjoyed racing, farming, hunting, sporting events, family, grandchildren, great-grandsons and friends.

Donald is survived by his wife of 56 years, Nancy A. Dorsett of Monrovia, three sons, Donald (LuAnn) Dorsett Jr. of Martinsville, Denny (Robin R.) Dorsett of Columbus, David (Robin L.) Dorsett of Martinsville; eight grandchildren, David "Drew" Dorsett, Kyla Jones, Victoria Dillon, Breanna, Rachelle, Katherine, Paige and Maci Dorsett; two great-grandsons, Emmitt and Callan. Donald is preceded in death by his parents, Delbert and Emily Dorsett.

Family and friends may gather from 2-7 p.m., Sunday, May 17, 2015 and 10-11 a.m., Monday, May 18, 2015 at Jones Family Mortuary, Mooresville. Pastor Jim Shields will officiate the 11 a.m. celebration of life service on Monday, May 18, 2015 at Jones Family Mortuary. Donald will be laid to rest in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Hall.
