Obituary for Chet Flynn

Chet Flynn of Mooresville, passed away Friday, March 18, 2011 at his home. He was born on February 13, 1932 in Worthington, Indiana to the late Samual Rufo Flynn and Glenna Maxine Wright. He was the fifth child of ten in the Family. Chet married Sue Ellen Goodwin in 1957 and she precedes him in death. Also preceding in death were 2 sisters, Marjorie Flynn and Patty Ann Driscol, and 5 brothers, Bob, Charles, Garry, Jackie and Harold Flynn.

He earned a bachelors in Education at Indiana State University and a Masters degree at Indiana University. They moved to Mooresville in 1959 where Mr. Flynn started a long career in education and coaching that included positions in Monrovia, Decatur and Mooresville. He spent the majority of his career as a guidance counselor at Paul Hadley. He retired from Mooresville Schools in 1991. He was a member of the First Christian Church in Mooresville. Chet was a U.S. Marine veteran of the Korean War.

Mr. Flynn is survived by his 2 daughters, Beth (Joe) Walton and Carole (Andy) Ellinghausen, brother Don Flynn and sister Doris Dalton, and 5 grandchildren.

Services will be on Thursday, March 24, 2011 at 11 am at the Jones Crossing Banquet Center, next to Jones Family Mortuary in Mooresville with visitation there on Wednesday, March 23, 2011 from 4pm to 8pm and also one hour prior to the service on Thursday. Private burial will be held later at Worthington Cemetery .
