Obituary for Charles (Charlie) H. Pierson

Charles "Charlie" H. Pierson, 92, of Camby, IN, died on January 26, 2011. He was born on February 5, 1918 in Valley Mills, IN to Albert & Harriett G. (Hunter) Pierson. On August 8, 1969, he married Maxine M. (Merritt) Pierson.

He was a 1935 Decatur Central High School Graduate. Before retiring in 1996, he was a lifetime Farmer. He was also a Proprietor of Pierson Hog Confinement Feeding and a Decatur Township School Bus Driver for 35 years. He lived in his birthplace of Valley Mills, IN for 64 years and Camby, IN for 28 years. He was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church in Indianapolis, IN, West Newton Masonic Lodge #707, West Newton Order of Eastern Star, Scottish Rite Indianapolis Valley and Murat Shrine, Murat Shrine Yacht Club, past President of Antelope Club, KY Colonels and received Sagamore of the Wabash Award. He was very active in the Republican Party for many years. He was also a founding member of the Decatur Central Lions Club.

He is survived by his wife, Maxine M. (Merritt) Pierson of Camby, IN, 1 Son, Charles "Chip" Pierson of Indianapolis, IN and several Nieces and Nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Albert & Harriett G. (Hunter) Pierson, 2 Brothers, Ted & James Pierson and 3 Sisters, Mildred Pierson, Frances "Pep" Marshall and Marietta Niven.

Calling will be from 4-8pm, Friday, January 28, 2011 and from 9-10am, Saturday, January 29, 2011 at Jones Family Mortuary. There will be a 7:30pm Masonic Service on Friday, January 28, 2011. Rev'd Thomas M. Kryder-Reid will officiate the 10am funeral service on Saturday, January 29, 2011. Burial will be in West Newton Cemetery.
