Obituary for Bernard Lynn (Bernie) Ellyson

Bernard Lynn "Bernie" Ellyson, 76 years of age passed away Tuesday, May 18, 2010. He was born March 29, 1934 in Cox's Mills, WV to the late Walter and Rosa Belle (Price) Ellyson. Bernie married Novalee (Oliver) Ellyson of Camby, IN on June 25, 1955.

He lived in Camby, IN for most of his life and in Cox's Mills, West Virginia for 19 years. He was a member of the Waverly Baptist Church and was a Korean War Army Veteran. He was also a member of the American Legion in Ft. Myers, FL, enjoyed his grandchildren, and loved fishing, hunting, and woodworking. Before retiring in 1981, he was a Tank Truck Operator for Texaco in Speedway, IN for 24 years.

Bernard is survived by his Wife, Novalee (Oliver) Ellyson of Camby, IN; 3 Children: Lynn (Nancy) Ellyson of Camby, IN, Lynette (Kyle) Skaggs of Camby, IN, and Luvetia "Rose" Schweinsberg of Mooresville, IN; 8 Grandchildren: Jason, Jamie, Jeremy, Ashley, Victoria, John, Mathew, and Lucas; 5 Great Grandchildren: Faith, Gracie, Ethan, Laney, and Oliver Bernie; 1 Brother, Willard Ellyson; and 2 Sisters, Virginia Simmons and Genevieve Earl.

Calling hours for Bernie will be from 4-8pm, Thursday, May 20, 2010 at Jones Family Mortuary and from 10-11am, Friday, May 21, 2010 at Waverly Baptist Church. The Funeral Service will be at 11am, Friday, May 21, 2010 at the Waverly Baptist Church in Martinsville, IN. Pastor David Ball will officiate the service and Bernard Ellyson will be laid to rest at Lincoln Memory Gardens in Whitestown, IN. Memorial Contributions may be made to the Waverly Baptist Church, 7225 Old St. Rd. 37 North, Martinsville, IN 46151.
