Obituary for Arthur J. Scharbrough

Arthur J. "Art" Scharbrough, 75, Monrovia, passed away peacefully with family by his side on Jan. 16, 2015. Art was born to John Arthur and Sillar Ann Scharbrough on Sept. 12, 1939 in Indianapolis. In 1957, Art graduated from Wood High School in Indianapolis. Art married Florence "Jean" (Scaggs) Scharbrough on Dec. 16, 1957.

Art was in Masonry Work with Eli Lilly in Indianapolis for 32 years, retired in 1993. Art loved the outdoors, especially fishing. He has lived in Monrovia since 1979, Mooresville from 1964-1979 and his birthplace of Indianapolis for 25 years.

Art is survived by his wife of 57 years, Florence "Jean" Scharbrough of Monrovia; three children, Dan (Jennifer) Scharbrough of Indianapolis, Dennis Lee (Laura) Scharbrough of Paragon, Lisa Ann (Steve) Maxwell of Monrovia; six grandchildren, Abigail, Peter, Emily, Heather, Amy and Sean; 16 great grandchildren and a twin sister, Alma Mary Meadows of Indianapolis. Art is preceded in death by his parents, John and Sillar Ann Scharbrough; two brothers and four sisters.

Family and friends may gather from 2-6 p.m., Sunday, Jan. 18, 2015 and 9-10 a.m., Monday, Jan. 19, 2015 at Jones Family Mortuary, Mooresville. Kevin Danforth, a nephew, will officiate the 10 a.m. celebration of life service on Monday, Jan. 19, 2015 at Jones Family Mortuary, Mooresville. Art will be laid to rest in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Hall.
