Obituary for Alice May Hornaday

Alice May Hornaday, 70, of Mooresville, passed away peacefully on Oct. 16, 2014. Alice was born to Herman George and Georgia Fern (Sparks) Lehr on Oct. 30, 1943 in Indianapolis. Alice married Larry E. Hornaday on Aug. 16, 1961.

Alice had been a Co-Owner-Operator and Waitress of Biff's in Mooresville for 56 years. She also sold Avon for 40 years and babysat for many children. She was an Honorary Member of the Mooresville Lions Club. She was also a volunteer for Kappa Kappa Sigma Sorority for several years with the Old Settlers' Queen Contest. She has lived in Mooresville for most of her life.

Alice is survived by five children, Kelvin (Penny) Hornaday of Mooresville, Kerry (Don) Hornaday of Mooresville, Kimberly (Michael) McClusky of Mooresville; Kristina (Tim) Hornaday-Alberts of Kalamazoo, MI, Katrina Jennings of Mooresville; 13 grandchildren, Heather, Brandon, Krystal, K.J., Georgia, Alicia, D.J., Kyle, Shawn, Devon, Beth, Ryan and Triston; 19 great grandchildren; one brother, Terry Joe Lehr and five sisters, Carolyn Sutton, Diana Clark, Phyllis Bailey, Judy Lehr and Jackie Steffy. Alice is preceded in death by her parents, Herman George and Georgia Fern (Sparks) Lehr; her husband, Larry E. Hornaday; a son, Killeen Hornaday; a brother, David Lehr; a great grandson, C.J. and a grandson, Evan Matthew.

Family and friends may gather from 2-8 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 19, 2014 and 10-11 a.m., Monday, Oct. 20, 2014 at Jones Crossing Banquet Center, next to Jones Family Mortuary in Mooresville. Kelvin Hornaday will officiate the 11 a.m. celebration of life service on Monday, Oct. 20, 2014 at Jones Crossing Banquet Center, Mooresville. Alice will be laid to rest in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Hall.
