Obituary for Kathleen J. Whitaker

Kathleen J. Whitaker, 94, of Mooresville most of her life, went to be with the Lord on Jan. 26, 2015. Kathleen was born to Emmitt D. and Minnie Viola (Johnson) Price on June 13, 1920 in Lee County, VA. Kathleen married Howard W. Whitaker on March 18, 1961.

Kathleen was a Cook for Kelly's Grandview Restaurant in Mooresville for 30 years. She is a member of New Life in Christ in Mooresville. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, canning, was an immaculate housekeeper and loved entertaining company.

Kathleen is survived by two children, Becky Gerholdt of Indianapolis, and Georgia Engles of MD; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; a sister, Elizabeth Pugh of Mooresville special niece, Joyce Rooker and family along with several other nieces and nephews. Kathleen is preceded in death by her husband, Howard W. Whitaker, a daughter, Norma Jean Kays; three sons, Robert and Donnie Whitaker, Franklin Caudill; five brothers and four sisters.

Family and friends may gather from 11-1 p.m., Jan. 29, 2015 at Jones Family Mortuary, Mooresville. Pastors Bill and Joyce Rooker will officiate the 1 p.m. celebration of life service at Jones Family Mortuary. Kathleen will be laid to rest at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Hall.
