Obituary for David Max DeLong

David "Max" DeLong, 84, of Mooresville passed away peacefully on March 5, 2016. Max was born to Russell and Veura Elizabeth (Abbitt) DeLong on April 30, 1931 in Indianapolis. He graduated from Broad Ripple High School in 1952. He married Margaret (Plummer) Crafton-DeLong on October 5, 2005.

Max was a Cable Repairman for Indiana Bell in Indianapolis for 40 years, retiring in 1991. He volunteered at St. Francis Hospital in Mooresville for nine years. He was a member of Plainfield Christian Church. He enjoyed woodworking. He lived in Mooresville for most of his life.

Max is survived by his wife of 10 years, Margaret Crafton-DeLong of Mooresville; three children, Kenny (Jo) DeLong of OH, David (Liz) DeLong of Greenwood, Darlene (Jim Stuckey) DeLong of Indianapolis; two stepchildren, Dana Crafton of Mooresville, Jayne (Rick) Stafford of Mooresville; three grandchildren, K.J., Darcy, Denise; two great-grandchildren; and a step daughter-in-law, Mariruth Crafton of Mooresville. Max is preceded in death by his parents; previous spouse, Jo Ann (Kincade) DeLong; and a stepson, Mike Crafton.

Family and friends may gather from 4-8 p.m., Monday, March 7, 2016 and 9-10 a.m., Tuesday, March 8, 2016 at Jones Family Mortuary, Mooresville. Pastor Steve White will officiate Max's 10 a.m. celebration of life service on Tuesday, March 8, 2016 at Jones Family Mortuary. Max will be laid to rest in White Lick Cemetery, Mooresville.
