Obituary for James M. Beach

James M. Beach
James M. Beach, 101, of Avon, went to be with the Lord on January 7, 2018. He was born to Eldon Paul and Viney Hall (Jennette) Beach on August 22, 1916 in Franklin, KY, where he lived for 37 years.

James M. Beach was married to Margaret P. Beach for nearly 60 years. She is who taught him how to read and they liked to read The Bible. For several years, they were members of Friendly Church of the Nazarene, located on the west side of Indianapolis, IN. In January, 2005, he received a Certificate of License from the church to preach the Gospel as he may have the opportunity, and to exercise his gifts in the work of the Ministry.

As a child, he was only able to attend Rich Pond Elementary School in Bowling Green, KY for a few years before having to quit school in order to work in the fields to help his family.

In Kentucky, he worked in a Section Gang repairing railroad tracks and did carpentry jobs. After that, he worked on a Dairy Farm, where milk from the farm supplied the school in town. In Indiana, he worked at Stump Brothers Meat Packing and in Industrial Heat Treat. His last job was at Best Lock Corporation in Indianapolis. He and Margaret worked there for several years before retiring.

After Margaret went to be with the Lord, he started watching TV and became a big fan of the Indiana Pacers.

He wore a glass eye for the majority of his life because his real eye was punctured by a thorn.

His second wife was Mary F. McKnight. They lived in Plainfield, IN, before moving to Countryside Meadows in Avon, IN.

James is survived by a loving son, James (Norma) Beach of Indianapolis; two loving grandchildren, Vaneta and Devin; two great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; four half brothers, Cecil, Herman, Billy and Ralph Beach; one half sister, Agnes Hanes. James is preceded in death by his parents; stepmother, Mandy Beach Young; first wife, Margaret Pamelia Beach; a daughter, Belinda Beach; second wife, Mary Frances McKnight Beach; three brothers, Edgar, Roy and Paul Beach; and two half brothers, Bobby and Charlie Beach.

Family and friends may gather to pay their respects from 4-8 p.m. on Friday, January 12th and 12-1 p.m. on Saturday, January 13th in Jones Family Mortuary, Mooresville. Pastor Earnest Garner will officiate James's celebration of life service at 1 p.m. on Saturday at the funeral home. James will be laid to rest in Floral Park Cemetery, Indianapolis.
