Obituary for Gary Dempsey

Gary Dempsey, 64, of Indianapolis, passed away peacefully with family by his side on December 18, 2016 at Danville Regional Rehab. Gary was born in Indianapolis on December 18, 1952 to Oris Wayne and Novice Trevell (Fishburn) Dempsey.

Gary was a 1971 graduate of Decatur Central High School. He was a machine repairman for General Motors in Indianapolis for over 30 years before retiring in 2008. Gary was a member of Mooresville Masonic Lodge #78, served as worshipful master in 2000 for lodge #78 and a member of Indianapolis Lodge #669. He was a member of Yorkrite Westside Chapter #138, Forest Wakeman Council #110 and Bray Commandry #65, Isley Yorkrite College #128, Sahara Grotto, Kentucky Colonel, and Scottish Rite.

Gary is survived by two children: Laura (Byron) Owen of Indianapolis and Matthew (Jessica) Dempsey of Greencastle; four grandchildren; brother, Michael (Karen) Dempsey of Camby and sister, Pamela (Charlie) Ricker of Indianapolis. Gary is also preceded by his parents and brother, Mark Dempsey.

Visitation for Gary will be 4-8 p.m. Wednesday, December 21, 2016 with a Masonic Service at 7:30 p.m. at Jones Crossing Banquet Center, 4161 East Allison Road Mooresville, IN 46158, next to Jones Family Mortuary. Pastor Billy Gott will officiate the Celebration of Life Service at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, December 22, 2016 at Jones Crossing Banquet Center. Gary will be laid to rest in West Newton Cemetery.
