Obituary for Don R. Swickard Jr.

Don R. Swickard Jr., 69, of Indianapolis, went to be with the Lord on November 19, 2016. He was born to Don R. Swickard Sr. and Bonnie (Wolfe) Swickard on December 29, 1946 in Indianapolis. He graduated from Southport High School in 1965 and attended the University of Indianapolis and the University of California at Santa Barbara. He married Wanda G. (Howard) Swickard on September 21, 1968.

Don was the President of Wolfe and Swickard Machine Company in Indianapolis for 30 years. He was also a Manager at Federal Express in Santa Barbara, CA, retiring in 2006. He was a member of Plainfield Christian Church. He enjoyed boating, fishing, and golfing. He was an avid traveler, and enjoyed traveling all over the world in his retirement. He lived in Indianapolis for most of his life, but also enjoyed his time in California and Florida.

Don is survived by his wife of 48 years, Wanda Swickard of Indianapolis; a daughter, Jennifer (Justin) Evans of Hays, Kansas; a son, Eric Swickard of Indianapolis; twin granddaughters, Anna & Emma Evans; a brother, Sam Swickard; two sisters, Carolyn Swickard and Patty Tejera, and many loving nieces and nephews.

Family and friends may gather from 1-3 p.m. on Wednesday, November 23, 2016 in Jones Crossing Banquet Center, next door to Jones Family Mortuary, Mooresville. Pastor Steve White will officiate Don's celebration of life service at 3p.m. on Wednesday in Jones Crossing Banquet Center. Don will be laid to rest in White Lick Cemetery, Mooresville.
