Obituary for William C. Tipton Sr.

William C. "Bill" Tipton Sr., 65, of Camby, passed away peacefully on October 9, 2016 with family by his side. Bill was born to Noble and Thea (Horton) Tipton on August 21, 1951 in Amherst, OH. Bill graduated from Ben Davis High School in 1969 and earned is bachelor's degree from Ball State. He served in the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam War. Bill married Debbie S. (Keith) Tipton on February 7, 1969.

Bill worked in management for Amtrak in Beech Grove for 33 years, retiring in 2012. He was a lifetime member of the Speedway American Legion Post 500. He enjoyed coaching youth football for 40 years and coached football at Northwest High School for 5 years, along with coaching youth softball for 20 years. He also enjoyed riding his Harley motorcycle. He lived in Camby for the past 14 years and lived most of his life in Indianapolis.

Bill is survived by his wife of 47 years, Debbie Tipton of Camby; three children, Candie (Michael) Duncan of Shelbyville, William C. Tipton Jr. of Indianapolis, Tonya (Mel) Moody of Indianapolis; five grandchildren, Breonna and Brandon Fields, Eli Duncan, Rosalinda De Graaf, Dakota Tipton; four great-grandchildren, Kalieya Clem, Cashlind Fields, Benjamin and Arthur De Graaf.

Family and friends may gather from 4-8 p.m. on Tuesday, October 11, 2016 and 10-11 a.m on Wednesday, October 12, 2016 in Jones Crossing Banquet Center, next door to Jones Family Mortuary, Mooresville. Pastor Jim Perry will officiate Bill's celebration of life service at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, October 12, 2016 in Jones Crossing Banquet Center.
