Geneva "Ruth" Poynter, 98, of Plainfield, IN passed away Thursday, July 21, 2016 in Manor Care @ Prestwick . Geneva was born October 11, 1917 in Woodstock, KY to the late General H. and Florence Myrtle (Nelson) Denney. She is the widow of Carl B. Poynter.

Ruth lived in Woodstock, KY for 20 years, Hall, IN for many years and in Plainfield since 1988. She was a proud homemaker. She was also a cook for Gray Brothers Cafeteria and Martinsville Hospital. She also taught herself how to quilt.

Ruth is survived by 6 children: Wayne (Linda) Poynter of Mooresville, Willene Keen of Clayton, Gloria (Ross) Walker of Plainfield, Tom Poynter of Florida, Clinton (Arleen) Poynter of Monrovia and Susie Quillen of Plainfield; several grandchildren, great grandchildren and great, great grandchildren; 2 half sisters: Zelma Landess and Arta Prescott. She is also preceded by 3 brothers: Clyde, Orville and Clinton Denney; half sister, Chris Penny; half brother, Dennis Barron.

Visitation for Ruth will be from 10-11 a.m. on Monday, July 25, 2016 at Jones Family Mortuary, Mooresville. Rodney Walker will officiate the celebration of life service at 11 a.m. Monday, July 25, 2016. Ruth will be laid to rest in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Hall.
