In the 20+ years that we have known Mick, we found him to be somewhat of a Renaissance man. Although he seemed quiet at first, he had a wealth of knowledge to share.
He was a world traveler, he hunted game and wildlife, he knew how to make fine brews, he designed and built a first-class fish pond with elaborate fountains and waterfalls, he could throw many strikes and pick up the toughest split when bowling, he chose to build on his faith and convert to Catholicism as an adult, he had a heart for developing strong character in youth and was able to model good sportsmanship when he coached 3rd and 4th graders with Steve at St. Monica, he could whip up a mouth-watering gourmet meal that made us feel as if we were dining in a 5-star restaurant! We thoroughly enjoyed Mick's cooking!
One of my favorite memories is when he taught me (Linda, someone who is not very domesticated) how to seer, season and prepare a PERFECT prime rib roast without having to be home to monitor it so we could enjoy a progressive dinner at Debbie and Ken Green's, Gary and Sue Hadden's, Mick's and then finally our own home. What fun memories we made together, what a great friend he was!
