Obituary for Joe D. Garrison

Joe D. Garrison, 80, of Indianapolis, passed away peacefully on August 19, 2015. He was born January 12, 1935 to John and Jewel (Dale) Garrison in Mt. Vernon, IL. He graduated from Mt. Vernon Township High School in Mt. Vernon, IL in 1952 and earned his Bachelor of Science from Southern Illinois University and Engineering Degree from Youngstown University. He was a U.S. Army Veteran. He married Karen L. (Browning) Garrison on August 23, 1957.

Joe was a Chief Design Engineer for Indiana Machine Works in Mooresville for 26 years, retiring in 2009. He also worked as a Chief Design Engineer for Rad Technology in FL. He was a member of Indianapolis Flycasters. He enjoyed taxidermy, woodworking, fishing, hunting and geneology. He lived in Indianapolis for most of his life.

Joe is survived by his wife of nearly 58 years, Karen L. Garrison of Indianapolis; two sons, Jeff (Michelle) Garrison of CA, Jim Garrison of Indianapolis; two grandchildren, Kegan Garrison, Briana Garrison; one brother, D. Wain (Donna) Garrison of FL; and a brother-in-law, James (Henry) Browning. Joe is preceded in death by his parents, John and Jewel (Dale) Garrison.

Family and friends may gather from 6-7 p.m., Tuesday, August 25, 2015 at Jones Family Mortuary, Mooresville. Pastor Billy Gott will officiate a 7 p.m. celebration of life memorial service on Tuesday, August 25, 2015 at Jones Family Mortuary.
