Wilma Rose Mitchell (Mcconkey)

Wilma Rose (McConkey) Mitchell, 95, of Mooresville, passed away Sunday, June 1st, 2025. She was born March 24th, 1930 in Terre Haute to her parents, Clyde McConkey and Hazel (Davis) Wilson. She married the late Howard Boring Mitchell on June 28th, 1947.

Wilma is survived by her four children: Jerry D. Mitchell (LuAnn) of Plainfield, Darlene K.M. Miller (John) of Mooresville, Tonya R. Oliphant (Bob) of Clayton, and Kirk S. Mitchell of Mooresville; 9 grandchildren: Natalie, Stacy, Chad, Jennifer, Jeremy, Michael, Matthew, Samantha, and Seth; 21 great grandchildren; and four great great grandchildren.

Wilma is preceded in death by both of her parents; her husband, Howard Mitchell; and granddaughters: Hayleigh and Tara.

Wilma, a proud graduate of Gerstmeyer High School in Terre Haute, Indiana, class of 1947, embodied the spirit of dedication and love. As a devoted homemaker, she also contributed her talents to Western and Southern Insurance Company and A.B.C. Daycare in Plainfield. Wilma found solace and strength in her faith, attending Hazelwood Christian Church in Clayton and previously being a member of First Assembly of God in Plainfield. Her greatest joy came from spending quality time with her family and grandchildren. With a passion for fishing and a love for playing euchre, she was affectionately known as the "Sassy Little Grandma," a testament to her vibrant spirit and zest for life.

Family and friends may show their love and support from 12 to 1 pm on Monday, June 16th at Jones Family Funeral and Cremation Service in Mooresville. A memorial service will be held at 1 pm following visitation at the funeral home. Wilma will be laid to rest during an inurnment graveside service at Fairfield Cemetery in Camby. Cremation arrangements have been entrusted to Jones Family Funeral and Cremation Service in Mooresville.
