Wilma Bussell

d. June 2, 2005

Wilma H. Bussell, born December 21, 1916 on a farm outside Bloomington, Indiana, she was the fifth of six children, born of Ernest and Iona (Chitwood) Alexander. Her siblings were Clark, Orland, Mildred, Beryl and Edwin, all preceding Wilma in death. Wilma spent much of her early years as a hand in the family farming business. Sunday's were reserved for church across the street at Mt. Gilead Christian Church, as well as a large family gathering for a meal in the afternoon. She moved to Indianapolis in 1942 to work in the city, where she eventually retired from Indiana Employment Security Division in 1982. On May 24, 1952, Wilma married her beloved husband, Roland H. and prior to his passing, the couple celebrated 50 years of wedded bliss. The union of Roland and Wilma produced three children, Alicia Sue Cornet, William E. and Kimberly Kay (died at birth). Wilma was called to everlasting peace on June 2, 2005 surrounded by her children. Wilma is survived by Sue and Bill, as well as stepchildren, Roland R. and Nancy Baise; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Other survivors that Wilma especially cherished and loved were her nieces and nephews and their families. Funeral services will be held on Monday, June 6, 2005 at 10 a.m. in Jones Family Mortuary, State Road 67 and Allison Road in Mooresville, with visitation there from 2 to 7 p.m. Sunday, June 5, 2005. For further directions, see their website at: www.jonesfamilymortuary.com. Wilma's final resting place will be Mt. Gilead Cemetery in Bloomington, Indiana, where she will again join her beloved Roland in eternal peace. Graveside services will be at Noon. Across the street sits the old farm house in which she was born and raised.
