William Powell

William R. Powell, 77, of Mooresville, IN, died on September 8, 2011. William was born to Paul I. & Mary (Randall) Powell on July 2, 1934 in Indianapolis, IN. William married Gloria (Shires) Powell on July 3, 1953. William was a 1952 George Washington High School Graduate. Before retiring in 1991, he worked as a Machinest for Detroit Diesel Allison for 25 years. He attended Grace Church in Mooresville, IN. He was a member of the UAW Local 933. He lived in Mooresville, IN for 17 years, Cloverdale, IN - 35 years and his birthplace of Indianapolis, IN for 25 years. William is survived by his wife, Gloria (Shires) Powell of Mooresville, IN; 3 children, Mark (Charlotte) Powell of IL , Tawnee (Ron) Parrish of Camby , IN & Matthew Powell of CA ; 4 grandchildren and 1 great grandson. William was preceded in death by his parents, Paul I. & Mary (Randall) Powell, 1 grandson, John Owen and a brother, Dale Powell. Calling will be from 11-1pm, Saturday, September 17, 2011 at Jones Family Mortuary. Murray Clugston will officiate the 1pm Celebration of Life Service on Saturday, September 17, 2011 at Jones Family Mortuary. He developed a love for the Haitian people during a mission trip he took in 2001.
