William Charles "Bill" Christensen, 80, of Camby, passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by his wife and family. He went home to the Lord Thursday, March 20th, 2025. He was born November 13th, 1944 in Buffalo, NY to his parents Donald William and Mary Hazel (Hawley). He married Martine K. (Klein) Christensen on July 17th, 1976 and spent nearly 49 adventurously beautiful years together.
Bill is survived by his wife, Martine K. Christensen of Camby; four children: Jacqueline Stevanus (Jim) of Columbus Ohio, Andrea Miller (Harry Arnao) of Wilmington Delaware, Eric Christensen (Rachel) of Rochester New York, Carl Christensen (Sara) of Camby; 12 grandchildren: Andrew, Michael, Jessica (Scott), Austin (Tiffany), Megan Renee (Collin), Nathan, Caroline (Cole), Skylar (Patrick), Joelle (Jack), Ellie, Zachary, and Killian; three great-grandchildren; and brother-in-law, Richard Pond.
Bill is preceded in death by both of his parents; his granddaughter, Katherine Joy; and sister, Karen Pond.
Bill graduated from Towson High School in Maryland in 1962 and went on to earn his Bachelor's degree in History, along with a teaching certificate, from Towson State College. He dedicated seven years to teaching at Royalton-Hartland High School in Middleport, New York, where he profoundly impacted the lives of students in need. He then transitioned to 14 years managing in retail, which opened doors to 26 years in computer technology. Serving 11 years as a Senior Program Analyst at Lockheed Martin in Maryland, he culminated his career in 2014.
He was a devoted member of his community churches over the years— Grace Baptist Church in Laurel, Maryland (28 years), Mosaic Church and Living Hope Community Church in Fredrick Maryland, and most recently Valley Mills Christian Church. Bill's leadership as a choir director at Grace Baptist for many years allowed him to share his love of singing with his family and those who shared the passion. As a passionate baseball fan, he coached for several years and cheered especially for the Baltimore Orioles. In his youth, he found joy in playing golf, tennis, and singing in choir with his father. Bill also served in the Boy Scouts of America Greater Baltimore Council, guiding and inspiring young people for 18 years. A charismatic man, he never met a stranger and engaged in meaningful conversations with everyone. His greatest joy came from helping others empower themselves.
Family and friends may show their love and support from 12 to 1 pm on Friday, March 28th at Jones Family Funeral and Cremation Service in Mooresville. A celebration of life service will be held at 1 pm following visitation at the funeral home. Bill will be laid to rest at West Newton Cemetery in West Newton.
