Walter Allen Mangold, 80, of Mooresville, IN passed away March 16, 2006. He was born June 3, 1925 in Huntingburg, IN to the late Earnest and Mazo (Cato) Mangold. Walter was preceded in death by his first wife, Wilma (Eads) Mangold.
He lived in Mooresville for most of his life and in Huntingburg for 20 years. He was a 1943 graduate of Huntingburg High School. He also obtained a Bachelor Degree in 1952 at the University of Mexico. He was an Engineer for the Indiana Department of Natural Resources for 17 years before retiring in 1989. Previously, he was an engineer for Schlumberger Oil Company for 20 years. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran having served during WWII (1943-1946) and the Korean War (1947-1951). Walter was also a member of the Little Flock Baptist Church in Whitehall, IN and the Mooresville Optimist Club for 35 years.
Walter is survived by: his wife, Cathy (Davidson) Mangold of Mooresville who he married April 11, 1981; 5 sons Mark Mangold of FL, Kirk Mangold of New Whiteland, IN, Kent Mangold of VA, Mark Uhlig of Arizona, Kevin Wyatt of Indianapolis; 3 brothers Robert Mangold of Colorado, Raymond Mangold of Huntingburg, IN, Joy Earnest Mangold of Franklin, IN ; 11 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren.
Calling hours will be 2-8pm pm Monday, March 20, 2006 at JONES FAMILY MORTUARY and 3-8pm, Tuesday, March 21 at Nass and Son funer home in Huntingburg, IN. The funeral is at 10am on Wednesday, March 22, 2006 at the Nass and Son funeral home in Huntingburg, IN.
