Walter Garland Carlisle

Walter Garland Carlisle, 84, of Camby, passed away Friday, August 16th, 2024. He was born February 21st, 1940 in Russellville, Kentucky to his parents Robert Odell Carlisle and Mary Evelyn (Head) Foley. He married Debera Jean (Wright) Carlisle on June 28th, 1969.

Walter is survived by his wife, Debera Jean Carlisle of Camby; seven children: Rebecca Carlisle Didier of Indianapolis, Beth Ann Ruddell (Gary) of Florida, Lisa Woods (Jeff) of Mooresville, Sheila Short (Dean) of Trafalger, Mark Carlisle of Camby, Jessica Tompkins (Mickey) of Mooresville, and Hannah Shelley (Michael) of Mooresville; 13 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; two brothers: Bobby Carlisle (Connie) of Martinsville and James Carlisle (Becky) of Martinsville; and one sister, Patty Jones (David) of Mooresville.

Walter is preceded in death by both of his parents; and two brothers: David Carlisle and Steve Foley.

Walter proudly served in the United States Army. He was a Service Technician repairing lawn mowers at Sears Roebuck for nearly 30 years, before retiring in 2000. He was also the Owner and Operator of Walt's Onsite Mower Repair. Walter was a member of Good Shepherd Baptist Church in Mooresville, where he served as a bus driver for over 30 years. He enjoyed fishing and hunting. He was known by many to be a loyal, consistent and dedicated provider. Walter took pride in being a saved Christian man, who loved his family very much.

Family and friends may show their love and support from 4 to 8 pm on Tuesday, August 20th and from 10 to 11 am on Wednesday, August 21st at Good Shepherd Baptist Church, 1150 State Road 144, Mooresville, IN 46158. A celebration of life will be held at 11 am following visitation on Wednesday, August 21st at the church. Walter will be laid to rest at White Lick Cemetery in Mooresville.
