Violet Louise Marr, 78, passed away April 1,2006, after a short illness. She was born May 12, 1927, a daughter of the late Macy W. & Mary Margaret (Amos) Davis. She graduate from Decatur Central High School in 1945. She married Edgar (Ed) Marr Sr. on April 30, 1946 and would have celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary in 29 days. She was a lifelong resident of Marion County, with the exception of the years at their summer home in Winamac, IN. An ardent Democrat she had served as Precinct Committee person and Ward Chairman from Decatur Township. She had received a personal invitation to the inaguration of President Clinton. She had been a member of officer of Marion County Democrat Women's Club. She was employed by many years in the Marion County Voters Registration, and retired from IUPUI Parking Garage Services. She was well known for her beautiful handmade quilts. Of Native American descent, she loved to make family recipes of jam cake and homemade buttermilk biscuits. As a child, she learned the importance of canning, raising chickens and helping with the family butchering during the Great Depression. She loved candle making, gardening and was an sports enthusiast as she followed the Pacers, Colts, IU sports and NASCAR activities. Louise, as she was known by friends, is survived by her husband, two sons: Edgar (Eddie) Marr Jr. & Jeffrey L. Marr, both of Indianapolis, IN, 2 Grandchildren: Jennifer Lynn Marr of Indianapolis,IN and Joshua G. Marr of Germany, a sister: Carolyn Jean Woody of Counce, TN. Four brothers preceded her in death: Macy Alan, Henry Willis, Charles & James Davis. Calling hours will be from 4-8pm, Tuesday, April 4, 2006 at JONES FAMILY MORTUARY. Funeral Services will be at 10am on Wednesday, April 5, 2006 with burial at West Newton Cemetery. Pastor Andrew Marshall will be officiating the service. www.jonesfamilymortuary.com
