Vickie Lynn (Unger) Mitchell, 70, of Indianapolis, passed away Friday, April 28th, 2023. She was born October 3rd, 1952 in Indianapolis to her parents Dale Eugene and Jo Anne "Jody" (Lewis) Unger. She married Jerry C. Mitchell on October 16th, 1982. She was a life long resident of Central Indiana.
Vickie is survived by her husband of nearly 41 years, Jerry C. Mitchell of Indianapolis; two sons: Ryan Mitchell of Indianapolis and Tyler Mitchell of Indianapolis; two bonus children: Meagan Moon (Jason) of Georgia and Ethan Mitchell of Indianapolis; and two grandchildren: Sophia Mitchell and Jaxon Moon. Vickie is preceded in death by both of her parents.
Vickie was a 1971 graduate of Plainfield High School. She later attended Cosmetology school to become a Cosmetologist and Hairdresser. She worked for Elite Hair Fashions in Plainfield for 20 years. Vickie also was a school bus driver for Perry Township schools for 26 years. For 15 of those years, she hired and trained the school bus drivers. Vickie also worked for ABM at the Indianapolis International Airport as a driver on the weekends. She was a member of and certified by N.A.P.T. (National Association for Pupil Transportation). Vickie was a big Wizard of Oz fan, as well as Neil Diamond. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Vickie had a close tie to her Christian faith.
A private celebration of life will be held at a later date. Cremation arrangements have been entrusted to Jones Family Mortuary in Mooresville, Indiana.
