With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Verlan White, age 87, on December 18, 2025. Born on February 27, 1938, in Harlan, Kentucky to her parents Arch and Betty (Muncy) Brock, she will be remembered as a devoted homemaker and a pillar of strength and faith in her family. A loving and devoted Christian, she found great joy in reading her Bible, a daily ritual that deepened her connection to her faith and her family.
Verlan was a passionate gardener who found peace in tending to her flowers and cutting the grass, a testament to her meticulous nature. Her talent for canning produced not only delicious preserves but also warm memories shared around family gatherings. She was known for her feistiness and her unwavering love for animals, especially her loyal canine companion, Bailey.
She is survived by her three beloved children: Sherrie Dykes (Allen) of Morgantown, Clifford White (Kim) of West Lafayette, and Vicky Lee (David) of Greenwood. Verlan cherished her five grandchildren, Taylor Maxwell, Corey White, Christopher White, Jennifer Nawara, and Whitney Gibbs-Lee, as well as her seven great-grandchildren: Piper, Aiden, Gabe, Alex, Bell, Christian, and Calvin. In addition, she leaves behind her cherished siblings: her brother, Dean Brock of Tennessee, and her sister, Mary Rose Brock of Florida.
Verlan was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Wayne White, as well as her parents and four brothers: Walter, P.J., Denver, and Milford Brock.
A graveside service to honor Verlan's life will take place on December 20, 2025, at 1:00 PM at White Lick Cemetery in Mooresville, Indiana. Friends and family are invited to come together in remembrance and celebration of Verlan's beautiful life, where stories, laughter, and tears will remind us of the legacy she leaves behind.
In our hearts, Verlan will forever remain a source of inspiration and love. She will be missed dearly, but her spirit will continue to shine brightly in the lives she touched.
