Tommie L Jones

Tommie L. Jones, 76, of Morristown, passed away with his loving family by his side on Wednesday, June 12th, 2024. He was born May 22nd,1948 in Indianapolis to his parents George H. and Louise (Ritchie) Jones. On the blissful wedding day, July 3rd, 1981, Tommie was accompanied by Jodi (Murphy) Jones arriving in style on their motorcycle.

Tommie was loved by many and is survived by his wife, Jodi (Murphy) Jones of Morristown; three children: Tammie Avila, Sherri Jones and Amy Wright; 12 grandchildren; brother, Ray Jones of Plainfield; sister, Barbara (Roger) Finchum of Indianapolis; sister, Patricia Wheeler of North Carolina; brother, Jack Jones of Indianapolis; sister, Deborah Jones of Indianapolis; brother, Dennis (Linda) Jones of Indianapolis; and brother, Kevin (Dawn) Jones of Shelbyville.

Tommie is preceded in death by both of his parents.

Tommie was a 1966 graduate of Arsenal Tech High School in Indianapolis. After graduation he joined the Army where he served during the Vietnam War. Upon returning home he worked for United States Postal Service as a Letter Carrier for several years. Tommie reveled in going to local casinos, taking trips to Las Vegas, riding his motorcycle and endeavors on cruises with Jodi. Tommie was a fun, loving husband, great dad and papaw, and was the light of Jodi's life. He will be greatly missed.

Family and friends may show their love and support from 11:00am-1:00pm on Monday, June 17th, 2024 at Jones Family Mortuary in Mooresville. A celebration of life service will be held at 1pm following visitation at the Funeral Home. Tommie will be laid to rest at West Newton Cemetery in West Newton.
