Thelma Pugh Hammons, 87, of Mooresville, IN, passed away peacefully on October 15, 2013. Thelma was born to Harm and Celia (Harless) Christian on July 18, 1926 in Lee County, VA. Thelma was widowed from her first husband, Chester Pugh, who she was married to for 50 years. Thelma later was married to William L. Hammons, who she was married to for 11 years. Thelma was a Homemaker. She was a member of North Madison Southern Baptist church in Camby, IN. She loved to play Bunco. She loved the power of prayer and reading the Bible. She was also a socializer and really enjoyed helping others. She has lived in Mooresville, IN for most of her life and 26 years in her birthplace of Lee County, VA. Thelma is survived by three children, Shelby Jean (Rod) Williamson of Avon, IN, Bud (Jo) Pugh of Mooresville, IN and Sam (Julie) Pugh of Mooresville, IN; two grandchildren, Cassandra and Dustin; five great grandchildren, Isaiah, Treyten, Alyssa, Haley and Trista and a brother, Jimmy Ray Christian of VA. Thelma is preceded in death by her parents, Harm and Celia (Harless) Christian; her first husband, Chester Pugh and most recent spouse, William L. Hammons; one sister, Mattie Fannon and six brothers, Johnny, Amos, Jake, Hubert, Jessie and Ed Christian. Family and friends may attend calling hours from 4-8 p.m., Friday, October 18, 2013 and 10-11 a.m., Saturday, October 19, 2013 at Jones Family Mortuary in Mooresville, IN. Bill Gott will officiate the 11 a.m. celebration of life service on Saturday, October 19, 2013 at Jones Family Mortuary. Thelma will be laid to rest in Mooresville Cemetery.
