Stella Watts

Stella M. (Chastain) Watts, 82, of Indianapolis, passed away peacefully with family by her side on April 28, 2016. She was born to Norman Chastain and Lucille (Schlangen) Bowlby on October 1, 1933 in Indianapolis. She graduated from Washington High School in 1951. She married Charles E. Watts Sr. on June 9, 1951.

Stella was a member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church and Southside Turners. She enjoyed volunteer work at church, reading, crossword puzzles and traveling. She loved spending time with family. She lived in Indianapolis all of her life. She managed Speedway Liquor Stores for 15 years.

Stella is survived by four children: Charles E. Watts Jr. of Indianapolis, Deborah (Kevin) Hart of Indianapolis, Keith Watts (John Borrego) of FL and Kent (Anita) Watts of Indianapolis; four grandchildren: Kelly (Tony) Tate, Michael (Arika) Hart, Kristyn Watts and Elizabeth Watts; three great-grandchildren: Makensy Hart, Brock Spayd and Jordan Tate; a sister, Bronwyn Burke; and a brother, Norman Chastain. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband; stepmother, Augustina Chastain; stepfather, Samuel Bowlby Sr.; and a brother, Samuel Bowlby Jr.

Family and friends may gather from 11 a.m. - 12 noon on Wednesday, May 4, 2016 in Jones Family Mortuary, Mooresville. Chaplain Rick Kassel will officiate Stella's celebration of life service at 12 noon on Wednesday, May 4, 2016. Stella will be laid to rest in Floral Park Cemetery, Indianapolis.
