Sondra Lee Poe (Golob)

Sondra Lee (Golob) Poe, 78, of Indianapolis, passed away Tuesday, July 29th, 2025. She was born November 27th, 1946 in Indianapolis to her parents Robert Eugene and Rosemary (Grass) Golob. She married the late Vernon Thomas Poe on October 23rd, 1981.

Sondra is survived by her three children: Kim Rizzi (Mark) of Bedford, Jenny Russell (Tony) of Greenwood, and Janell Henry of Indianapolis; 12 grandchildren: Christopher, Ryan, Courtney, Collin, Brittani, Al, Hannah, Macey, Meggan, Nicholas, Morgan, and Jakob; 17 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and three siblings: James Golob (Libby) of Greenfield, Betty Belschwender in Indianapolis, and Connie Purcell of Shelbyville.

Sondra is preceded in death by both of her parents; husband, Vernon Thomas Poe; grandson, Kyle; two brothers: Robert Golob Jr. and Clyde Golob; five sisters: Barbara Hendrick, Dorothy Golob, Alice Goddard, Donna Hooser, and Mary Harms; and son-in-law, Chris Henry.

Sondra attended Greenfield High School and dedicated 25 years of her life as a Legal Secretary for Indiana Protection and Advocacy in Indianapolis before retiring in 2014. As an active member of LifePoint Church, she passionately served her community, contributing to the women's ministry group and fellowship program. A gifted seamstress, she expressed her creativity and skill through her work. Sondra enjoyed cooking and cherished her travels, especially to the enchanting landscapes of Ireland. Known by many for her generosity, love, care, and spirited personality, she inspired those around her every day.

Family and friends may show their love and support from 11 am to 1 pm on Wednesday, August 6th at Jones Family Funeral and Cremation Service in Mooresville. A celebration of life service will be held at 1 pm following visitation at the funeral home. Sondra will be laid to rest next to her husband, Vernon at Odd Fellows Cemetery in Waverly.
